WHAT’S GROWING ON?
This year at Bulldog Hop Company, we have 3 very exciting hop varieties to offer, all of which are sourced clean from Great Lakes Hop plants
Michigan Copper™
Which was among the first new cultivar to be released from the GLH trials and breeding program in 2014. It has gained traction and praise across the United States since and has only increased in demand.
Aroma: Floral, tropical, fruit punch, pepper, cherry.
Aromas Identified by Brewers: Fragrant floral, tropical fruit , Hawaiian fruit punch, black cherry, hard red candy, hibiscus resin.
Comet
An early version of the “C” type citrusy hop. A vigorous American heirloom variety. It is an all-purpose hop used for bittering or as late additions to bring out the strong citrusy flavors. Result of a cross of English “Sunshine” X wild Utah male around 1962- (10 years prior to Cascade). A potent high-oils hop with “raspy” or “wild” bitterness; similar to Brewers Gold.
Aroma: unique zesty grapefruit, with pineapple & orange notes.
Triumph
A new variety released as an aroma variety by the USDA. It is expected that brewers will utilize this cultivar as an aroma hop in either lager or pilsner-style beers as well as pale ale brews.
Aroma: Apricot, Stone fruit, bubble gum.
